Went up to Silver Star to watch the fireworks. They're pretty tiny from up there, but it was pretty great being able to see just about every firework in the Portland area. The sunset was fantastic. Trekked back to the car around 10:30 in the dark, with many deer eyes glowing in the light of my headlamp.

Horse trek through Tibetan areas of Sichuan Province. But we had to walk some of the steeper declines. The we hiked in Muni Valley National Park where calcite-rich ponds look emerald and jade. The hot spring was fairly cool in temperature.

Humid day on the trail. Easy hike, beautiful scenery. I see why this is listed as one of the most popular hikes in Oregon, the area is lush, beautiful river w/ some great fishing spots. But, w/ popularity come the crowds and man was it crowded! Better to do on a week-day if possible.

The rain was supposed to let up by noon, but accuweather failed again. OH well. The bear grass and rhododendrons were blooming like crazy, and I found a few spring morels to boot! Jon and I stopped for lunch and to dry off a bit at the fire lookout before heading down. A good day, a solid hike. I'll be heading back with good weather, for sure!
