We did this loop last year and got a much earlier start this time. We hit the trail at sunrise and finished about 3:00. It was perfect weather and had a lot of great photo ops. The creek was so low that we just hopped rocks to cross and didn't even get our feet wet. This has become one of my most favorite hikes. It has a little bit of everything, and great v...

Took a nice solo trip with my dog. This was his first real hike. It was clear but very windy at top. I could see smoke from distant wild fires.

This was my third trip. 4.25 hrs up 3 down. It was clear but very windy up top. I lost my hat into the crater.

Thought we would beat the heat and start early. I have never done this loop in reverse so I thought that it might be more of a workout with more EG. It looks like WTA is cutting in some new tracks below sr14.

We did this hike last summer but instead of going up Huffman trail we went up Wildcat Trail and down Chinook. There was not much of a view on top of Siouxon because of cloud cover. We didn't see another soul until after the creek ford at Wildcat falls and back onto Siouxon Creek Trail.

Almost identical conditions as last year about this same time. This time we didn't venture out on the 'spine', just hung out on the overlook rock.

That 'catwalk' was too fun! A little bit of snow up top at the Ruckel Creek crossing.

March 10, 2012 8 miles 3,250 feet gained

It started out just rain....then wet slush....then snow....lots of it! We were going to do the loop back down the west ridge, but by the time we reached the summit, there was at least 3 feet of snow and it was hard to maneuver through without snowshoes. My micro spikes helped. No views and very windy and cold up top, so we didn't stick around or go to the vi...

A group of us did Cape Horn today, the last weekend before the lower loop closure. The rain wasn't too bad until we hit Cape Horn Road. We didn't see another soul the whole hike. They sure did a nice job maintaining the trail this year and the tunnels are great!
