Connect an assistant

Post your hikes by chatting.

Went Hiking connects to Claude and ChatGPT, so you can post a trip the way you'd tell a friend about it — from the trailhead parking lot, on the drive home, wherever. Say something like “post my trip to the Goat Rocks to Went Hiking” and your assistant will interview you about the trip, draft the report in your voice, hand you a link to add photos from your camera roll, and publish only when you say it's ready.

Set it up with Claude

  1. Open claude.ai → Settings → Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector and paste in https://wenthiking.com/mcp.
  3. When Claude asks to connect, log in with your Went Hiking account and approve access.

Once added on the web, the connector follows you to the Claude apps on iPhone, Android, and desktop automatically.

Set it up with ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT → Settings → Apps & Connectors. If you don't see an option to add one, enable developer mode under Advanced settings first.
  2. Add a new connector with the URL https://wenthiking.com/mcp.
  3. Log in with your Went Hiking account when prompted and approve access.

Things worth knowing

Everything starts as a private draft — nothing goes public and nobody gets emailed until you explicitly tell your assistant to publish. Your assistant can only touch your own hikes, and only with the permissions you approve on the consent screen. Photos never pass through the assistant: the upload link opens right here on Went Hiking and the photos go straight to your trip.
