I t was a dreary day, and I was tired and sore from climbing Middle Sister, but I was in the area with some time to spare, and McKenzie Pass had just opened. So for kicks, I drove on up and wandered cross country in the lava lands to Huckleberry Lake to find a geocache.

Awesome restorative trip into Bull of the Woods. It poured rain halfway into the first day until the morning of day three. My feet may have never dried out, but we saw some beautiful wilderness, witnessed the recent fire's destruction first hand, and finally had a dry night with a fire on night three. Go *now* and see the bear grass and rhododendrons—they ar...

June 20, 2012 Chris 6 miles 3,000 feet gained

A nice late day hike up Dog. We stopped at a nice riverfront spot in Stevenson on the way back, but it wasn't Walking Man.

June 20 to June 21, 2012 Jen 13.5 miles 4,750 feet gained 1 night

I did this trip with the Mazamas on the longest day of the year. It was a perfect weather window. We started at the Pole Creek trailhead and took the Pole Creek Trail to the Chambers Lakes Trail, then headed off cross country towards the east flank of the mountain. We found a perfect snow free tree island to make camp, with nearby stream for water- approx 68...

June 20 to June 21, 2012 Bosterson 19 miles 4,750 feet gained 1 night

Ran up to Tanner Butte after work though unfortunately arrived on the summit around 9:30pm, just too late to really catch the sunset. Bivied down below the lookout point in some trees and woke up at 4:30am for the sunrise, then ran back down, drove back to Portland, and was at work by 10!

June 20, 2012 Stacey 4.5 miles 500 feet gained

To celebrate summer solstice, I hiked the 4T trail (4T - trail, tram, trolley and train) after work with a co-worker. Started at the Oregon Zoo around 6pm. The trail is very well marked. Made it up to Council Crest at 6:30pm, where we sat down for a potluck dinner. We headed down the trail to OHSU at 7:45pm and got to the aerial tram at 8:45pm. The view from...

June 19, 2012 Jen 5.5 miles 1,000 feet gained

I got to the Sisters in the late afternoon, but had some time to do a little exploring. I visited three waterfalls on the Upper Whychus Creek drainage, and the Trout Creek Butee lookout tower off Pole Creek Rd.

June 19, 2012 Shane 10 miles 3,750 feet gained

It was rainy. Found a salamander/ orange-bellied lizard of some kind. Jon and I were attacked by an angry hen. We reached the top, and views were obscured by the clouds. Caught some good sights on the way down. It was a successful day.

June 17, 2012 Water (Matt) 12 miles 5,000 feet gained

xposted from cc.com Date: 6/17/2012 Trip Report: figured I'd throw my hat in the TR contest: my usual suspects had other plans this weekend. So I ended up wrangling a plan with two folks via cc.com that I hadn't met before. One local and the other on an extended rock/snow/ski/paddling adventure of cali/bc/or/wa/ and now AK before school in the fall. Based on...

June 16 to June 17, 2012 Barnaby B. 14.5 miles 4,000 feet gained 1 night

Lake Tahoe, went up to lost lake, and wandered around the mountains. Was a much longer hike than we anticipated, and there were plenty of bugs flying around. But the views were well worth it.

June 16 to June 18, 2012 Nat Turner 7.5 miles 500 feet gained 2 nights

Great place to stop Midway through the drive to Utah. Free Camping, off the beaten path, and they have owls and a balanced rock. it's kinda cool. 40ft at the top, 3 ft x 17 inch base.

June 16, 2012 Mileage Mike 10 miles 2,250 feet gained

Actual mileage was 10miles, elevation gain 2273ft (corrected with gpsfly) It was a beautiful day on the coast! We hiked the Cooks Ridge trail to the Cummins Creek Loop trail and back to the parking lot via the Oregon Coast Trail. We also visited the overlook for the tide pools.

June 16, 2012 Bosterson 20 miles 5,500 feet gained

Started Eagle Creek TH @ 6am. Hiked to 4 1/2 mile bridge, then turned right and went up a ridge to the Tanner Butte trail, covering 3.5 miles of off trail ridge in 5.5 hours. Sketchy climbing, game trails, and lots of brush. Once we regained the trail, we scampered up to Tanner Butte and had chilled wine on the summit (not kidding), then hoofed it back down ...

June 15 to June 17, 2012 Roman 18.5 miles 5,250 feet gained 2 nights

Did a fun trip over the weekend in little-traveled NE side of Badger Creek Wilderness. Started Friday pm off School Canyon TH and camped first night near Helispot viewpoint, 3.5 miles in. Next morning, met the only other hiker I'd see in a whole weekend. Broke my camp and continued up School Canyon trail (despite the name, it's 100% ridge top trail) to Flag ...

Beautiful day. Trail in great shape.Just me and the dog. Did not see a soul until we got back to the parking lot.

June 10, 2012 jon 8 miles 2,000 feet gained

My original plan was to get a panorama from the top of Tumalo Mountain. Unfortunately, the weather was not helping at all, and the summit was completely socked in with clouds. We later did some snowshoeing where I was able to get separate photos of Broken Top and South Sister. A larger version [here](http://gigapan.com/gigapans/107616). <iframe src="http://w...

June 10, 2012 Shane 6 miles 1,250 feet gained

We decided to hit this hike up on the way home from a weekend near Bend. The plan was to do Potato Butte, but the conditions had other ideas. The snow starts on this hike around Red Lake. It's hard packed and melting, so you only punch through once in a while. The trail is a mess though, more of a creek or a bog than a trail in some places. Red Lake and Averi...

June 10, 2012 Roman 6 miles 2,500 feet gained

Easy hike on a less-traveled trail to summit meadows on Cedar Mtn, this time with my Mom. We skipped a steep side trip to Cedar Falls but otherwise did the same loop clockwise that I did in back in April.

June 9, 2012 WildBill9685 7.5 miles 2,750 feet gained

Dog Mountain round 2. This time the flowers were out but the weather was horrible towards the summit. Horizontal rain and strong winds. We didnt stay there long.

June 9, 2012 Jen 6 miles 1,250 feet gained

The upper gate is open now. It was a soggy day. I started at the hairpin turn and did the clockwise loop took the LMT down to the Multnomah Way Trail to the Oneonta Trail. The forest has such variety on this loop. The crater meadows are full of blooming marsh marigold and shooting star. The Multnomah Way Trail is a creek. Only saw one other hiker on a Saturd...

June 9, 2012 Barnaby B. 5 miles 1,000 feet gained

Last minute decided to go on a trip with friends. I didn't know much about where they were going, I only knew that I wanted to hike. Turns out that this spot is amazing if you love waterfalls. Granted they are really small waterfalls, and we didn't go during the wet season so they were tiny, but still very cool. There's 5 waterfalls worth seeing and they are...

Super Fun Calf Burner. My GPS says 11.1 miles Right about 4000 Vertical Feet. We went past the lookout/outhouse remains, down north on the point for some better views. Actual mileage 10.1miles, elevation gain 2056ft (corrected with gpsfly) This is potentially my last visit to Larrabee State Park in Bellingham, WA as my youngest son graduated from WWU this weekend. We have been hiking this area for 9 years while our 3 son's all attended and graduated from WWU! This was basically a cleanup hike that connected a few of our pr...

June 9, 2012 Kam Pierce 6.5 miles 1,250 feet gained

First car at the TH @8am. Forty-five minutes later, we had the falls all to ourselves. The scramble up to the top tier was fun! Great campsites in this area. Would like to return and explore circuit of trails. Perfect hike for a rainy day with time constraints (had to be back in town by 1p).

June 9, 2012 Bosterson 20 miles 5,750 feet gained

Started at Herman Creek at 7:45am. Up Nick Eaton ridge and out to Green Point Mountain. Hit snow around 4000' and it became deep and consolidated with some new fresh snow on top from the previous days' rains. Totally misted over and lots of wind blowing snowmelt and ice and snow bombs out of the trees on us. Cold! Scrapped plans to head down to Rainy and Nor...

June 9, 2012 Stacey 7 miles 1,000 feet gained

Arrived at the trailhead around 9am. I was leading a group of 8 hikers today. We were the second and third cars in the parking lot. We set out in the morning drizzle, for a quick hike up to Ramona Falls. We arrived at the falls around 10:30am, taking the southern side of the loop in, and had the area all to ourselves. We didn't see anyone else until we were ...

June 8 to June 10, 2012 Tom 23.5 miles 0 feet gained 2 nights

I left my house around 1pm and drove through some beautiful farmland on my way to the trailhead. I arrived at the North Country Trail trailhead in Solon Springs, WI about two hours later. After about a mile of walking I realized that I had probably taken the wrong trail, so I called CryotheWild from the forums. After talking with him I decided that I indeed ...

June 7 to June 8, 2012 Nick of the woods 4 miles 0 feet gained 1 night

Hanging out for a night at Snipens house after a 400 mile drive. Getting some shut eye from the hammock before starting the NCT section the next day. Weather was stormy and the whippoorwills noisy.

June 6, 2012 jon 9 miles 3,250 feet gained

This actually accounts for two trips with the GigaPan on consecutive days. Unfortunately, I'm only posting this now due to a heavy work schedule and the sheer amount of time that it takes to put one of these photos together. Since trying the GigaPan out for the first time in April, I wanted to come back with a larger lens. Thankfully no one else at my work n...
