September 25, 2016 Woodswalker Deep Lake 11 miles 1,250 feet gained

Beautiful day. The fall colors are at peak right now and the lakes are still looking good! We started at E. Crater trailhead and went past Junction Lake through all the lovely meadows and tarns. Deep Lake ended up being our turnaround point after a marvelous day.

While the crowds are clammoring up to Paradise this trail offers solitude along with great views. Did not see a single person on the trail all day and besides Rainier looming in your face, Adams, St. Helens & even Hood could be seen from the summit.

Went with my dad to test new lens and spend an evening outdoors. There's a new trail being built that will bypass Devil's Elbow (though less direct than former elk trail).

Three days camping at Walupt Lake with amazing day hikes. The wildflowers are still putting on a show in the wet patches, although they are bloomed out elsewhere. Fantastic views and only one small misty shower. Great day in a stunning area.

I was expecting better views from this hike as my hiking guide rated it 4 out of 5 stars. Appears since the book was written the trees have grown blocking some of the views.

August 26, 2016 Woodswalker Walupt Lake 9 miles 2,000 feet gained

We just stopped off at Walupt Lake campground long enough to pick a site and park the car. Then up the trail we went to Sheep Lake. Amazingly quiet for a Friday and hot enough to take a quick dip in the lake. Some one had beat us to the huckleberries, but the views and lake beauty more than compensated.

On Sunday I took Russ up to the south rib scramble on Guye Peak. Russ earned a feather for completing his first major scramble of a peak. It was a gorgeous day and the temps were just right. When we reached the summit there was a nice breeze and it continued for most of our descent. All around a really great day to be out on a peak !!!

While the crowds assend Mt. Townsend this overlooked peak is easily accessed from the Tunnel Creek TH. Great views of Mt. Constance, Puget Sound & the mountains of The Brothers Wilderness. We saw only 3 people on the trail along with one bear. Great hike for a hot day.

Spent super-hot weekend on Placid Lake, briefly hiked to Chenamus but was thwarted by mosquitoes. It was a bit early hike for Indian Heaven bug-wise, but great time nonetheless. (edit - it was a 2-night trip, not 1-night)
