got off work a bit early. Made it to Barlow Pass just before sunset. Headed down to Devil's Half Acre to meetup with J and J. They had dug an awesome fire pit.. so I went to work on our snow-lodging. Fun night drinking beer, enjoying the snow, and being out under one of the largest full moons in my lifetime. Slept in a snowtrench with a tarp across it. The n...

Just me and the dog today. Hit the first snow on the trail at around 2700' and after Indian point it was nasty slushy between 1-2 feet deep in spots..

The first hike of the All Trails Challenge Fund Raiser. Got" lost" due to lack of sign at trail junction, hence the need to raise some funds for dear sweet Forest Park.

Went with James. Up the "More Difficult" Old Trail and down the Scenic trail. Forget the Augsberger! The wind was insane, gusting upwards of 40mph near the top. It nearly knocked me over a few times, and managed to take my hat. We went off trail for a short while to look for it, going along a tree line. Spotted lots of deer poop, but no hat. It was amazing b...

Great weekend! We had to deal with a few clouds when we set out, but it was sunny and almost 60 degrees when we arrived at camp. There wasn't a ton of scenery changes or elevation gains, but it was very scenic and a great taste of spring weather!

Went with Al to Bennet Pass. Snowshoed to top of peak and drank a beer. Got some good shots of a rabbit. Had been very cold the previous week.

Starting at the St Johns Bridge, the Ridge trail goes all the way up to the top of Firelane 7. I took the Hardesty Trail part of the way down to make a lollipop loop.

The rain ceased briefly, prompting a short afterwork jaunt. Lots of interesting clouds in the Gorge today. Other than Multnomah Falls the Gorge was surprisingly empty for a Saturday.

The Elevator Shaft was amazing. Great Hike. Only wish I had more time at the top of Cougar Rock. Trip Report on portlandhikers.org was a great resource.

[Shane](http://wenthiking.com/with/31-shane/hikes/180) and I hunted down the best weather within a 10 hour drive this weekend, and decided on the Deschutes. I'll get this out of the way—the hike itself is pretty boring. It's a long gravel road through an otherwise beautiful canyon, with little bits of trail to break up the monotony. The scenery is beautifu...

Second attempt in 2011, almost got to Nesmith Point Road from looking at my phones GPS tracks but it felt like I was already way down Horsetail Creek Trail so I turned arounda dn headed back. Up to 4' of snow, with fresh snow falling as I tromped around, nice good snow shoe today!

[pics hosted for another hike for a TR] We went to Coyote Wall today and did a loop counter-clockwise, connecting the upper and lower Wall trail via Wizard Trail. It would be harder doing it (the first time at least) clockwise because the lower junction of Wizard Trail would be impossible to find - it's very faint trail @ lower junction. It rained heavily wh...

Steep hike but nice, I made it to the last talus crossing and stopped because of slippery snow and strong wind. Hope to get back there soon.

*sigh* not so good at marking these hikes on the map! This was an amazing short hike, good workout, amazing views of the Gorge and Dog Mt, some Native history and a little snow! ICK, also found a goat carcass in the parking lot, wrapped up in a plastic sheet, with its guts in a separate bag. SUPER BUMMER.

Nice hike but I freaked out on the cliff area near McCord Creek Falls. After seeing the two falls we hiked past Elowa to the Gorge 400 trail I think and we followed that for a ways.

3' of snow starting about where I turned around today at the 2800' level. For some reason I decided not to at least attach my snow shoes to my day pack, I think it was because I read something about Civrot in his 5 fingers and didn't realize his report was almost a week old, so last weeks winter blast really piled it up on the Nesmith Point trail! Learned my...

Nice day for hiking as it was around 45 degrees at the Leif Erikson TH. The parking lot was fairly full around 10am but still had room for several more cars. We started up LE for quite a ways then doubled back to the TH. From there we did a loop up Cannon Trail to Wildwood, down Waterline and caught LE back to the TH. This morning we drove down to Busiek and hiked the white and orange trails, about five and three quarter miles with a couple of two hundred foot ascents. It was muddy and most of the creeks and a lot of the trails had water in them, which meant we had to be inventive in finding way across without getting wet; until we had to cross camp creek that is. It was ...
