Timberwolf went hiking March 13, 2011 7 miles 2,750 feet gained
Went with James. Up the "More Difficult" Old Trail and down the Scenic trail. Forget the Augsberger! The wind was insane, gusting upwards of 40mph near the top. It nearly knocked me over a few times, and managed to take my hat. We went off trail for a short while to look for it, going along a tree line. Spotted lots of deer poop, but no hat. It was amazing being up there to witness the weather moving so actively. The cloud ceiling dropped as we descended, and the sun came out. Everything was brilliant. Also saw some really interesting lichen that was rubbery, bumpy, and white on the underside. Really cool! Unfortunately, I got only one crappy photo out of this awesome hike. I did also get a video, however, of the wind whipping us around and rocking a sign near the top. :)
