Started at the Snow Lake Trail Head on a beautiful summer's day. Some snow still lingers on the eastern side of Snow Lake but easily managed without traction or poles. Scrambled up a talus field to the ridge at about 5000 ft then headed to the peak. Big enough to handle a group of 7 or 8, the views were endless and well worth the effort.

Started climbing South Sister a little after 10pm, and arrived at the summit at 3:50am, well in time to fully savor the most glorious sunrise ever! We were absolutely alone up there, though we passed by no fewer than 117 people coming up as we descended. What a great night/day!

Hiked to Lone Pine Lake as our last acclimation hike prior to hiking to the summit of Mt. Whitney on July 3rd. This hike also allowed us to familiarize ourselves with the first 2.5 miles of the Mt. Whitney Trail. Permits are only required after Lone Pine Lake. We started up the trail around 3:30pm, returning to Whitney Portal at about 6pm.
