Our goal was to watch Timberline's fireworks and we succeeded! Incredible night and start to 2018!

Spent the weekend in Joshua Tree camping with our daughter.

Lots of stars and way too many coats and snow pants in our packs. It was pretty warm. Whoot!

Had a miserable cold and a slight fever and little time because of work, but wanted to get out.

Left at 8pm with needed snowshoes. Tons of stars.

Late start at 4:45 up Gumjuwac due to work schedules, so we had to rely on the days when we backpacked with toddlers. Lovely evening hike into the sunset.

Incredible trip where we saw the Northern Lights.

July 29 to July 30, 2017 Mcneil Point 11.5 miles 3,250 feet gained 1 night
Got another late start ~~ as in 6:15pm and made it to a secluded spot on rocks on a ridge for the night. Incredible views. Bugs were pretty bad heading up and then again mid morning coming down from the shelter.
July 22 to July 23, 2017 Timberline Lodge T2 5 miles 2,500 feet gained 1 night
Lacking time, we began hiking at 8pm and made camp at 7100. This morning, we continued up to 8200' then headed back. Star filled night.
July 15 to July 16, 2017 Cooper Spur 11 miles 3,500 feet gained 1 night
Quick get away to spend the night under the stars and check out the new trail crossing the Elliott. Looking forward to crossing the next time we need to. The trail is beautiful and I'm especially thankful for all the workers who fixed it up for us!

Plan B because we weren't going to get to the trail head until 8pm due to work. Full moon and a little wind for a beautiful night.

Short on time, and wanted a view after the prior weekend sock in, so we revisited this hike.

Five cars in the lot at 3:50am. Extreme wind over pass.
May 28 to May 29, 2017 Paradise Park Loop 16 miles 3,500 feet gained 1 night
Solid snow from 4200'. Both the PCT and Loop signs were completely buried under snow.
May 20 to May 21, 2017 Alpine Campground 5 miles 1,250 feet gained 1 night
Lovely late afternoon hike up Yellow Jacket to Boy Scout Ridge from White River. Tons of climbers' lights heading up the mountain around 3:30.

Ran into Splintercat near the trailhead at White River. Since we were so late getting started, we camped at the viewpoint near the Timberline Trail under a starry, clear night. The Easter Bunny brought candy.

Forest Park from Birch Trail past Balch Creek Shelter to parking area and back.

Light snow a few times and clouds over Hood until late night, then crystal clear. High teens to low 20'speed. We headed up Yellow Jackets to the PCT.
March 27, 2017 Dinihanian Reservoir 4.5 miles 250 feet gained
A quick out and back in between rain showers.

Beautiful Sunday, the last day of winter, turned into a windy affair during the night and pretty much drenched our tent with a good amount of snow. The Cooper Spur shelter on the Timberline Trail is filled with snow. You may be able to skinny through the top, but it would be creepy.

Hiked through snow in many places.
March 5, 2017 Sylvan Creek 5 miles 2,500 feet gained
Beautiful snowy day with a few feet of snow at the summit. Four people ahead of us broke trail, so it was a lovely path to follow.

Showed some friends the "homestead".
January 29 to January 30, 2017 Trillium Lake Campground 5.5 miles 500 feet gained 1 night
Night hiked to spend the night. Potties were open (long crawl down) and stocked with TP, so it was a luxurious time!
