Quick out and back hike with my sons.
December 24 to December 25, 2016 Trillium Lake Campground 6 miles 500 feet gained 1 night
Hiked into Trillium Lake with our entire adult family of five carrying firewood. My daughter and I did the daunting task of locating the fire pit by the pavillion. We succeeded and had a wonderful fire with bench seating around.

Rain-free hike in Forest Park with Kevin.

The first out of six other people was Larry from Grocery Outlet. Pretty cold and windy at the top, but what I love about this hike is that it's the best bang for your buck hike. Gone from the house for six hours and got a lot of elevation in five miles.

Gumjuwac Trail for a quick overnight since Kevin has to work tonight.
October 30, 2016 Multnomah Falls 7.5 miles 2,000 feet gained
Multnomah Falls to the Basin on a drizzly Oregon day.
October 10, 2016 City of Portland Reservoir Number 3 4 miles 1,000 feet gained
Nice morning hike before fabric shopping and work.
September 4 to September 5, 2016 Paradise Park Loop 15.5 miles 3,500 feet gained 1 night
Fourth time this year to Paradise Park, third time up the Kiwanas Trail (778), first time completely snow free. Windy and cold. We were glad to have layers and raincoats (for warmth, but lousy as pillow).

Saw "the goat", two bucks, frogs, Sandy Guard Station and fellow Portland Hiker, Guy.
August 21 to August 22, 2016 Gumjuwac 10 miles 3,000 feet gained 1 night
Short overnighter to a splendid spot with ten volcanos visible.

Road Trip with my son from Portland to Seward, AK via Canada. Hiked to the hut on Exit Glacier with limited visibility and rain, but incredibly beautiful.
July 22 to July 25, 2016 Newton Clark Glacier 46 miles 11,000 feet gained 3 nights
Epic trip with my son counter clockwise around Mt. Hood on the Timberline Trail. Great weather, flowers, tough river crossings and incredible views. My husband and other son joined us at Paradise Park for the night and last few miles out.
July 15 to July 17, 2016 Ptarmigan 36 miles 8,000 feet gained 2 nights
Beautiful few days with my son. Glad he was with me to route find. Bugless and cloudy.

Got a late start on the trail ~ as in 5:30pm, but had a bug free and more important, WIND - FREE and sand free backpack. There were three other parties camped near the shelter. One trio was heading from Timberline around the mountain. They looked like hearty souls and will likely succeed.

Father's Day backpack with our three adult kids. Full moon going into the Summer Solstice. Short and SUPER SANDY because the wind kicked up a lot. Our backyard looks like a triage area with all the stuff drying out after being hosed down.

Incredible afternoon hike after our son's PSU graduation in the morning. Starry night. Front clouded us in this morning.

Gorgeous day with my son. Years ago, when he was in Sea Scouts, they would dock nearby and hike to the top of Beacon Rock.

Nice overnight with our son on a sweltering day in Portland. Snow and a fair amount of bugs above 5,000'.

I got stuck and couldn't make it to the top of the first spot. Oh, so close, but I sat for an hour while Charles headed up.

Beautiful couple of hours in the Gorge mid-week.

We handed out candy to all moms (three) on our hike up on Mother's Day and dog treats to two dogs. EXTREME sustained wind at the shelter. The shelter on the Timberline Trail is full of snow, but it may have been better to sleep on the snow inside rather than have our tents pelted with sand and wind. Gorgeous morning!
May 1 to May 2, 2016 Alpine Campground 3.5 miles 1,250 feet gained 1 night
Starry, starry night on snow, but the sand blew the whole hike in. Opted to stay low instead of heading up higher and to more exposed areas. Watched climbers on Hood in the early morning hours.
April 16 to April 17, 2016 Alpine Campground 5.5 miles 1,750 feet gained 1 night
And another beautiful night at 5,000' with a morning hike to 5,900'. Lots of climbers' lights in the wee morning hours heading to the summit.
April 10 to April 11, 2016 Paradise Park Loop 15.5 miles 3,500 feet gained 1 night
Well that was tough! I was on the 30 steps, stop, 30 steps, stop program in the snow.

Possibly one of the toughest route finding and difficult snow-stepping on the way up. Incredible moring views of Hood and easy hike back to car.

Snow past 2000'. We packed snow balls down to pass out to needy children on the 11 switchbacks close to the Multnomah Falls Lodge.

Early morning hike on fabulous trails and no rain. Tiny snow falling at the summit.
