Fun time climbing up Elevator Shaft to wander around Multnomah Basin. Great detour halfway up to look out over the viewpoint just beyond Meadow Ridge. Still can't figure out the approach to there from Multnomah Creek. The ornament trail sure has exploded in popularity since I was last up there two years ago! Only saw one other human up top, lots more coming ...

Adopted a rescue dog a couple of weeks ago & am in the process of training her as a hiking partner. After some leash time on the trails we hike over to the dog park for some socializing.

Another overnight soul restoration. Goat Creek is extremely unremarkable, even a downright ugly campsite, but it's tough to beat the beautiful hike in and the lack of others that would stupidly sleep in the rain in December out here.

Started up Berge Road on my bike, but it was a bit too muddy and steep and I had some technical difficulties, so I threw the bike in the bushes and hiked the rest.Lots of interesting little side roads to explore. I have an idea for a loop next time. Really nice big scree fields on the northern end of Aug. Pikas still out.

The wind was not bad, until we reached the top... up there, it was like in the Jet Engine Test Lab busy at work (and sounded just the same). It was warm enough that wind chill was not an issue. Great views as always.

Easy out and back dayhike on a gray day. Only saw 10 people all day, and no one until on the way back from Chinook Falls. The bridge is still in, but you can tell it's rotting quickly. Slippery crossing just before the closed bridge was flowing really good, not very easy to avoid getting wet.

Hiked up to the Nesika Lodge via the Ornament Trail for some early December holiday cheer. An ice storm had hit Multnomah Basin fairly recently, so the trees were heavily laden with ice.

Went on a family hike for my son's birthday. This is actually a very nice area, and the two waterfalls we saw were phenomenal! Pothole falls reminded me of a smaller Lewis River Lower Falls! There are many short hiking trails in the park and we bumped into a gentleman that mentioned that there are many more trails which aren't documented.

The weather report was calling for sleety mix and high winds in the gorge, but it was high thin clouds all day with some sunshine. I followed the Herman Creek trail to just past Casey Creek. The wind was calm once I got away from the trailhead. A thin sprinkle of snow and ice dusted the trail. But not slippery at all. Great day out.

Another Visit to Opal Creek. Half Bridges are almost complete. Water was running high and swift. Cedar Flat was not accessible due to high water flow at the crossing next to the waterfall shortly before Cedar Flats. Kopetski Trail, between Opal Pool and the road junction was flooded in several areas.

It was a very wet day today and we both found out our boots have a leak in them! We only saw a pair of hunters as they returned to the TH, otherwise, there was nobody on the trail system today. There are so many trails here that we actually got disoriented and had to use the gps to get back to the return trail, and it was actually kind of fun.

Finally took my grandmother to see Lewis River - she always came to visit us in winter, when this trail was closed by snow. The falls were roaring, sheer walls of water; at Upper Falls viewpoint the ground was literally shaking under our feet.

We enjoy going out on Holidays as the trail system is seldom crowded, wand only one person was seen on the trail. Warm day but it cooled down as we hiked out toward Camp Creek. It rained lightly for a short while, but was mostly just cloudy. This trail is always a pleasure and Herman Creek is spectacular!
