Non stop views on a great day. Very quiet except for a dozen bicyclists. The Balsam Root is past peak, but lots of woodland flowers out. Took a detour up to the top of Shellrock Mountain for stunning views Hood, Adams, Rainier and Helens all looking good. We could see Lookout Mountain and it still has a good bit of snow on top. Wonderful day.

Hiked from the Slab Camp TH and made base camp at the Deer Park Campground. Deer Ridge and the campground are completely snow free. Day hiked from there up Blue & Green Mountains. Attempted an assent of Maiden Peak but still a bit to much snow and turned around about 500' from the summit.

3-day 2-night loop (plus night near car before hike), from Lookout Mtn over Round Mtn, down to Walton Lake and Ochoco campground, then up Duncan Butte & over Lookout back to the trailhead. About 1/3 of the loop was with no trail - I went on ATV trails and logging roads, with short cuts through forest. Real ponderosa country, loved most of the loop.

Awesome day getting in some easy mileage. Mosquitoes were minimal and the bloom in the meadows is just starting. Super quiet up there right now. So enjoyable to stroll through all the empty campsites.

Took the kids camping. The Clear Creek campground is a gem, just 7 well spaced spots, very quiet. Although I usually avoid campgrounds like the plague, this is where the trailhead is, and it was so inviting, we decided to stay! Did the Camas Prairie Loop hike, and the next day we visited Mill Creek Buttes, east of Surveyor's Ridge.

Started the climb around 5 AM & Worm Flow route taken. Was told Monitor Ridge route will open June 1st. Snow is melting out quickly & the first half mile or so was snow free. Put on crampons after crossing the rocky section. Took us about 5 hours to reach the top. Glissade a fair amount on the way down which cut about a mile on the decent.

Came in from the north over Bald Butte and went a few miles down the Surveyors Ridge Trail. The flower show on Bald Butte is probably 3 weeks out. But no snow at all. Our high point was at 4100'. Excellent day with a good friend.

Great day. I went up the east side of Tracy Hill along the rim of Major Creek and then north on Tracy Hill until i hit non public land. A few Lewisias are starting, camas, death camas, rosy plectritis, popcorn flower, clovers and many others. The lupine isn't going yet.
