Started off with 5 mile bike ride from June Lake to Ape Canyon TH. Threw bike in bushes and hiked up Ape Canyon to Loowit, and headed CW back to the June. The dang mountain was covered by clouds all day.

I hiked the PCT from Barlow Pass up towards Timberline and the wandered uphill to about 7200'. The bloom above Timberline is amazing right now. The Beargrass is great and everything else is just getting going. Wonderful day.

Entered via the Tubal Cain Mine TH and made base camp approximately a mile and a half past Buckhorn Lake. First day was a cloudy fog fest which limited any views. Woke up the next day to blue skies and summited Buckhorn but not before the fog began rolling in.....RATS! From there descended to Marmot Pass and then down to Camp Mystery to resupply our water......

This hike has been incredibly popular lately, so I decided to try for a late night hike to get the dog away from Portland fireworks. We arrived at the trailhead around 6:30 pm, and headed on up. The weather was clear, until we reached the summit. The clouds came in, but I enjoyed my time up there anyway. Headlamped it down, but worth it for the solitude.

Confusing mess of logging roads, but we made it using a mix of written directions and looking at gaia. Beautiful hike, everything was green and the trail was mostly empty. Glad to see the Gifford open up for recreation, though still limited. Be sure to predownload map of the area before going as googlemaps is not reliable to find the trailhead in my opinion.

The park had just reopened a few days before my visit. Started in the equestrian area and it really had a wild, abandoned feel to it. Biome similar to Bend, with Pondersa pine and open understory. This river feels like it's in the wilderness, rather than in the suburbs of a small city. Love the basalt formations here.
