I was vacationing in Chester CT for a few days and had a chance to go on a nice New England forest hike every morning. I would choose a different section of the forest for each walk. Solitude on every single hike (all weekdays), and easy bushwacking. The fall colors were terrific and it was interesting to walk around in the eastern forest- very few conifers!

Started at the White River Campground up to Sunrise and then over to the Burroughs. I had planned on doing a loop back down to Glacier Basin, but once I was up on the 2nd Burrough the trail was impossible to follow and since I haven't been there before I decided to go back the way I came.

Sorry, don't have any significant stats, but this was pretty hilly terrain, with lots of ups and downs. Great fall hike with nice trails and solitude. Campsites were somewhat crowded, but we had plenty of room to spread out and keep to ourselves. Water stations & outhouses at each camp outpost.

Took a day hike with a friend. We were looking for a place that was fishable, mellow, and had some distance. The Clackamas River Trail turned out to be the place! Really easy hike, and caught a beautiful cutthroat halfway up Pup Creek Falls.
