20 miles of hiking • 5500' elevation gain •
Started Eagle Creek TH @ 6am. Hiked to 4 1/2 mile bridge, then turned right and went up a ridge to the Tanner Butte trail, covering 3.5 miles of off trail ridge in 5.5 hours. Sketchy climbing, game trails, and lots of brush. Once we regained the trail, we scampered up to Tanner Butte and had chilled wine on the summit (not kidding), then hoofed it back down to the cars by 6pm.

Thanks Kyle. It was a blast! There's some really great scrambling up there, lots of adventure!
Seems like it. I'll be bushwhacking from Opal Lake to Cedar Flats this weekend as part of a big loop—I'm excited!
Was that narrow ridge also a part of a bushwhack from 4 1/2 mile bridge? Looks like very interesting route!
Yeah, if you look at the map for this hike, follow the ridge the pin is on down to Eagle Creek. We left the trail at 4.5 mile bridge and went cross country over to the ridge and then up it. Lots of bushwhacking! There's a big TR for it with lots more pictures and a GPS track map in the off trail forum on PH.

That's a clever route up there!
