7.5 miles of hiking • 1000' elevation gain •

Couldn't stay indoors today, no way!

Took the 8 year old twins on a easy hike to Ramona Falls. Yah! Man, they are finally getting good on some harder hikes! :)

Was new to all of us, can't believe I've never been here before, well I can, but you know what I mean.

I think this was the hike that my wife and I tried with our oldest daughter back in '98 or '99, we were really out of shape back then and I had my young daughter strapped onto me with one of those carry things. We only made it about 1 mile, heh. Always bugged me that I couldn't remember what hike that was for all these years but once I saw the parking lot it all came back to me, had to be this. Where else would hiking n00bs go anyway?

Took tons of pictures of the kids and some video too, finally got a decent camera, but it's not a DSLR or anything...

Eric,

Always love Ramona fall hike -- and wish when I was a kid I lived near such a cool place (and not the midwest..oh well, there was plentiful fishing).

I sent a message to Kyle, creator of this site, about the uphill per mile statistics. I'm curious how those are computed.. just feet gained divided by miles, yes? I'm curious if there is a minimum threshold one must have or if you need to be in the top 10 of miles or elevation in order to get on that. It would seem with my stats for the year I should be on there.

cheers!

My understanding was a 100 mile threshold distance wise before the feet per mile was added, I think there might be a glitch.

This hike was right at my twins limit, we did the balloon loop, really a lot of mileage for just turning 8 a few weeks ago... :)

Hmm.. I'm at 103.5 miles and 37,000ft I think.. I'll never be at the tops of miles or raw feet but....not bad on the foot per mile! :P

you're just priming them for something like that thru hiker Balls and Sunshine (shes 11!) on the PCT.. hehe Hope they were feeling done, but not entirely thrashed by the end! Only more adventures to come as they get older!

Yup, they felt good I think. Was more psychological to them then actual worn out. Next up is the Opal Creek area with all those old mining and train ruins. Can't wait for that one with them!

Yeah - how is Justin, aka Mr. Defiance (captain defiance?), not on that list?

Mayhem is the unstoppable machine from what I understand, he just doesn't use WH to record his stats, but I think dude is over 150k gain already this year.

Mayhem completed the 3 D challenge, not sure where the TR is yet on PDX.

But yeah, Justin should be on the list too, so there must be a glitch... :)

lol, yeah I think Mayhem should get the title Captain Defiance.

I agree that there must be a glitch on the top 10 for feet per mile. If I calculate my stats it looks like I should probably be #4 on the list. Maybe I'm blacklisted...
