Always wanted to go as far as I could up old Tanner Creek Trail 431, it used to actually go all the way up into the Bull Run but of course the sillies closed that all off and now poor old 431 is barely even there anymore... :(
Was fun anyway! :)
Happy New Year!!

Cool. Do you have a track of this?
Great, thanks!
So did you look up 430? Is it maintained at all? I've been thinking about going up that trail.
Impossible to see, but where the Moffet Creek sign is on the ground there is a flagging around the tree with flags to ford right there, but NO log there. Go up another 1/4 mile or so to another ford of Tanner where there is several logs to choose from. There was also older flagging around this area and a newish looking camp site with charred log remains. I will annotate the track with my saved GPS waypoints
Cool—so you didn't cross and couldn't see, or the trail is no longer possible to see?
I didn't cross the more southern log crossing, but that log crossing does align a lot more with what the USGS has for the Moffet Creek Trail, just didn't get close enough to look accross there, I'm sure there is at the very least user made boot path around the other side of the log that leads back to the newer Moffet Creek Trail alignment. Tanner Creek was raging supreme, looked like Eagle Creek so I wasn't about to cross anything with all that going on...
Thought there'd be some bugs surrounding the transition to a new year, thanks EP.
The stats started over guys! Gulp—fair playing field now! I'm making some updates tonight to make 2010 hikes more discoverable. I'm even going to send out my first email broadcast ;)
Also, I really want to camp at Tanner Creek Camp! Did it seem nice? Good fire circle? This hike will be a really great cross country ski overnight once some snow lays down this spring.
Do you think there would be enough snow to ski at 2000 ft?
It's telling me i went 0.00 miles last year :(
That's fixed! Only enough snow after a snowstorm in say February.
Funny thing is, the first hike I do this year will probably put me right at the top of EG again, probably not really a fair playing field :)
Kyle, I tried putting this into the correct date of Dec 31 and then the hike vanishes :( Stuck it back to 30th, the wrong date and it's back into the 2011 column.

Uh, Kyle . . . I hiked this today the 31st and it rolled into 2012 :) So I had to make it for the 3oth to show up in 2011 since it's still 2011 . . .
