It's so many forests like this here, you may hike for days and days on end. And a little further from the city, won't see many people, if at all :)
I love the sight of endless forests among mountains, like this. Would love to read a more detailed description of your hike. Nice pictures of flowers too, I should take more flower shots when hiking and then maybe my wife will be more interested in coming with me.
Barnaby - I should have put some description of this hike; it's so popular around Portland that I skipped the details (I've now added a link to a hike description). Like for me it is cool to see and read where people from other states hike, and how the views there differ from OR/WA :)
I have never seen anything like the air balloon.
Did you see it up close?

The woods in that first photo are breathtaking. I've got to get up into the PNW sometime; we just don't have forests like that down here...
