Exceptional day in Indian Heaven. A few hunters, but mostly hikers and backpackers. Met PCT thru-hiker "Rocks" and had a nice talk. We gave him plenty of snacks, that he gobbled up!

Nice! Opportunistic trail-angeling for thru hikers is always great. Kudos. :)

I wonder if we crossed paths? We did this same hike Sat/Sun as a backpack.

Thanks Elsie! My wife and I love to frequent the PCT this time of year just to get the chance to meet any thru-hikers. Of course, like you say, it's opportunistic, and sometimes we don't meet anyone. This time we were loaded up with treats, and only met Rocks, and he was coming off the PCT near the Blue Lake camping area. We off-loaded a bit of snack weight, and he quickly ate them while we talked. He was Extremely gracious and thankful for the snacks!

Jeremiah - It's very possible our paths crossed, but it would have been on the way to/back from Blue Lake to the Thomas Lake TH. We didn't actually meet any backpackers on the PCT or while at Blue Lake. Maybe you recognized me, since I stand out with my blaze orange backpack cover and camera case (in front)? I make sure to wear the covers since it's hunting season! My wife and I are also very talkative, and would have said hello and make small talk!

Yea Mike, there was a couple with orange backpack covers and a camera case that went by my group @ Blue Lake. We were disappointed to be at such a beautiful place as Blue Lake w/ the loud and obnoxious family fishing on the other side.

There were 4 of us, my wife and two friends. We had the unfortunate experience of camping right next to said obnoxious family @ Bear Lake the night before. :( You can imagine our hearts sank when we arrived at Blue Lake only to hear them berating their 8 year old.

Anyway, it MUST'VE been you and your wife? There were 4 of us, myself, my wife and 2 male friends. I was the tall skinny guy in a blue shirt w/ a gray backpack.

I wish I would've known it was you!

Jeremiah - Yep, that had to be us! I've never seen anyone else that stands out so with LOUD colors. I know the family you're talking about, and I probably have a picture of them since we were talking with the thru-hiker when they were there (just in case you want to relive the experience Ha Ha!). It was at about 4pm that we were talking with "Rocks". I also remember hiking around the north side of the lake and seeing 4 backpackers, three men and a women, that were putting on their packs. I believe you were following just behind us, but later passed us by?

I'm also very sorry we didn't get a chance to talk. I do wear a portlandhiker.org button, but it's not in the most obvious place (left shoulder). Maybe next time around! Take care!
