Hiking to Granite Falls from the Green Mountain trailhead was the longest day hike we have done so far - 10.3 miles round trip. There was plenty to see on the way there, as we passed Big Meadows we had views of snow capped peaks above a beautiful expansive meadow. We passed many small creek like falls and walked past a gushing stream which offered many places to stop for a snack and take pictures. The run-off was massive when we got to the falls, so there was plenty of powerful waterfall to see. We had the whole falls to ourselves and explored the upper and lower falls and had a picnic lunch. On the way back was the most fantastic part, we spotted wild moose in Big Meadows! We had never seen wild moose before, it was pretty amazing.
