Trainer Kim went hiking June 15, 2011 9 miles 2,000 feet gained
I have tried to summit table twice before to get stuck at the boulder field. Third times a charm! I started @ Bonneville Hotsprings and climbed through the mud and muck for about 45 minutes before coming to the meadow and turns for Aldrich Butte. The PCT was gorgeous and dry. Heartbreak Ridge was slick and muddy, which wore me out by the time I got to the top, lol. I had to sprint past most of the views due to bees, flies and gnats. I bear crawled up the boulder field with no problem. The summit was GORGEOUS!!! I loved it! Great views. Getting down sucked. I had NO flaming idea 1) how there could be so many bugs, 2) how steep it was or 3) how long it was. I crabwalked/slid my way down swallowing tons of dust and bugs as I went. I was not a happy camper. When I got back to the meadow, I went straight toward the old dirt service road and hiked that back to Bonneville. The whole trip took me 4.5 hours.
