Jeremy - I think it was elderberry, but it's been long time since I tried them so not sure... but those look similar. One time someone showed me elderberry and said they're not poisonous but taste foul, and I may try - tried them & it was the most terrible thing I tried in my life!
But in this picture in front (out of focus) are thimbleberries that look like flat-ish raspberry - they are quite tasty!
That's what I thought it was too. I saw a photo of "mountain ash" and thought it might be that, but i'm still not sure. My memory isn't so great.
