Magificent! Love the high desert solitude. Basalt formations excellent. Watched bighorn graze the hillside across the river from my camp.

Criterion Ranch is another great one for right now, if you can rationalize the drive. (Perhaps get gas in town and not in small towns on the way.)

I have Criterion on my list as a potential getaway, havent been in a few years. Problem is the water sources-have found marked springs and drainages to be dry even in the spring and the Deschutes tastes like dirt even after filter and boil!
