What were firecamp lakes like? I almost attempted this as an easy backpack last summer. Did it seem like a cool spot?

Hi Jeremiah, Well the Firecamp Lakes were pretty buggy and brushy on my visit, but had their charms. The lake shown in the picture is Crown Lake and it has several good campsites and a nice view of the mountain. I think it would be a nice spot to take kids and non-backpackers starting in a few weeks. I tseemed like good swimming, and then you could take off on a dayhike to Park Butte, via Bear Point and " Adventure Ridge". I considered this as a fun hike/bike shuttle( leaving bike at Crown Lake TH and then parking and starting down on the S Breitenbush trail. Maybe someday......

Wow that sounds fun! However bushwhacking the nearby Crag "trail" wasn't so fun, so who knows. It is tempting to think about driving most of the EG of the Breitenbush trail via Firecamp lakes and continuing along Adventure Ridge.
