8.5 miles of hiking • 2750' elevation gain •

Boring walk up Gorton Creek to Indian Point, but views from Saddle almost worth it. Snow on trail to Deadwood Camp, but not on Nick Eaton Ridge. Impressive views of canyon on the descent (I think of Tomlike, Chinidere and Green Point, as well as a very snowy Benson Plateau). GPS read 2850ft at highest, so strenuous elevation but felt gradual since spread out over 4 miles. Probably won't do this one again unless to a larger peak in the canyon.

Thanks for the information about the camp; I was considering heading out there this weekend. How much snow do you think was on the ground in that area?

Gah! Sorry I didn't see your comment, Kyle. Besides, I don't think I was close enough to the camp to judge accurately, but I imagine at least some patchy snow. Hope you made it and had fun out there :)

It was great! There was no snow at the camp—just a few hundred yards of ATS (Annoying Trail Snow) between there and Indian Point. I agree though—boring hike minus the single viewpoint. I probably won't go back unless to go to North Lake or somewhere else.

Although that would be an extremely taxing hike.
