Another wonderful Saturday in January. Temps in the mid 50's at the height of the day, partly cloudy, but plenty of sun & blue sky. Followed the PH Field Guide directions & summary. No snow to be found, really. We could see all the way to Mary's Peak in the West, the 3 sisters, 3FJ, the entire Cascade range for 100 miles N & S. The lookout was boarded up. Pansy Lake had thin ice, Dickey Lake was almost unthawed.

Drive to the trailhead is fine, Mike. It's long (2 hours from PDX), but pretty good road all the way. Several rocks, and a few branches here and there. I think they are logging out there, so use caution. It's probably why the roads are in good shape, honestly.
Thanks very much Jeremiah! I feel a whole lot better about heading out there when we get a chance. We happen to live in northern Vancouver, so it's probably closer to 2.5 hours for us, so we'll wait until the days are a bit longer (and there is no danger of snow)!

Jeremiah - Love the pictures and looks like some amazing views! How is the drive to the TH? Bagby Hot Springs is an easy drive but we don't appreciate roads like that to Grassy Knoll. Thanks!
