Overall, this was a great hike for my wife and I. We've always tried to take some time to get out and get some fresh air but recently we've been trying to make an effort to hike more. It's a great way to remain active and try and lose some of those excess pounds. My wife is in pretty good shape, I just wish I could say the same for myself. But, you have to start somewhere and we decided on Mt. Watatic. We hiked up the State-Line Trail (marked blue) which I found an enjoyable hike; the pitch was moderate and the footing was real solid. The peak is beautiful and with great visibility you can see pretty far off. On our way down we took the Wapack Trail (marked Yellow) and were glad we were descending this way. It wasn't the steepest trail but there were many tree roots and rock formations so you had to be cautious of your ankles. We didn't stop much on the hike and overall enjoyed the three mile loop, especially a small PB&J lunch at the summit.
