Panther Gap Loop

This was a moderately difficult hike, depending on how you handle elevation. The trail starts from the Wolverton recreational area parking lot at an elevation of 7200'. You gain about 1200' of elevation over the first three miles of the hike at which point you reach Panther Gap and have a fantastic view of the Great Western Divide, the Castle Rocks, and the middle fork of the Kaweah river valley. The second half of the loop is mostly down hill another three miles leading past picturesque meadows, be on your guard for mosquitoes though, they were especially bad during that stretch of the trail. Eventually you meet up with Wolverton rd. and follow it back to the parking lot at which you started. All in all it was a very enjoyable hike and I would recommend it to anyone who can handle a somewhat strenuous hike.
