Galehead Mountain

This was the first Hiking trip with my wife so I tried to pick a relatively easy trail for her first time. Unfortunately the last 1/3 of the Gale River Trail had some very steep rocky/boulder sections that my wife so lovingly named "The Stairs from Hell." We also tried to make it over to Mt. Garfield, but the Garfield Ridge Trail contained some really slippery ledge stone covered in running water and moss, so we decided to camp the night and just head back the way we had came.

Overall it was a successful trip and the Wifey has signed on to go hiking again as long as I am more careful to read some trail reports and am less ambitious as to the miles we try to put on each day. As a side note we stopped by the Galehead Hut (Run by the AMC) and it is really something to behold. I would recommend checking out any of the AMC huts throughout the White Mountains, they are a real slice of heaven on earth.
