Amanda went hiking September 28, 2011 13.5 miles 2,000 feet gained
My friend Marina and I day hiked the Goat Lake loop last week. The weather gods were smiling on us all day ! I did not take my dog this time, because last year she contracted giardia here and passed it on to all the other pets in the house. It was a nightmare. This hike would be wonderful as a backpack as there are many side trails to explore and I cannot wait to go back next year. Make sure and stop in Packwood before you leave, it is an adorable little place with an amazing view of Mt. Rainier and there were elk roaming all around town. It was an amazing sight.
We started at the Berrypatch trailhead and follow the loop counterclockwise. Horses do frequent the Goat Ridge trail so the trip down was a little smelly and you had to watch your step. Roundtrip 13.0 miles approx. Elevation Gain 2000 ft Highest Point 6600 ft
