4 miles of hiking • 750' elevation gain •

2015.11.09 - 1lap - I decided to use a hill near my house for training during weekdays and crappy weather days. It's 384ft gain and 1mi one direction. Yesterday was my first time up it with 20lbs pack and I got up in about 20mins. It felt good to get out and be active, and there was a decent view of the valley below from the top.

I plan to keep doing this and adding on to this post, as a friend who uses this site recommended. I will add pack weight and laps gradually until I get to 70lbs pack and 10 laps, worrying more about endurance than speed. Will have to drag a tire at some point as well to simulate pulling a sled.

2015.11.11 - 1lap - My wife wanted to go for a walk tonight so I suggested we take the kids up the hill and she agreed. I wanted to try out my mountaineering boots and other winter apparel before my first hike in the snow with B-Dog this Saturday. I got really hot really fast, and walking in the boots was a lot more difficult than I expected. But everyone had a good time. Took about 35 mins to the top with 35lb child on back and first time wearing mountaineering boots.
