Second time volunteering as a mountain steward on a Guided Climb with the Mt. St. Helens Institute. Started at 6:30am at climber's bivouac and finished at 5:15pm. We summited at 12:30pm. This climb was awesome. Definitely not enough snow left to glissade safely so we descended on the scree and boulder fields. I could feel it in my knees even with careful climbing and trekking poles. All clients had fun and were challenged! By the end of the day, everyone felt like old friends - something I love about volunteering on these climbs. As usual (6th time climbing this mountain since May) the weather was absolutely gorgeous. I'm curious to see it when the weather is less than perfect. Extremely windy at the top! We saw three American Pine Marten playing in the boulders at about 5000ft.
