Had a nice day out with Jason & Theo last weekend. The forecast called for sunny skies and the stoke was high. Our original intent was to climb Bryant Peak. We thought that with the recent rain and layer of crust on top of the new snow that conditions were going to be optimal for climbing. The avy report was low and the (3) OG's had confirmed for a 7:00 a.m. meet up. Little did we know that the snow conditions were going to be poor above source lake. Opting to leave snowshoes behind and haul up crampons for the climb turned out to be the downfall of the day. I have a long love hate relationship with my slowshoes and today proved to be just one of those days. After an hour of postholing and going in well over my thighs with every step, I decided to call it a day. Dang it...should have brought those slowshoes after all!!!!!! Theo and Jason carried on for a few more hours, but had a slow go of it as well. Ahhh to be less than 200lbs again!! LOL All and all it was a good day out with my good friends and it was capped off with some adult beverages at DruBru.
