Ice Age Trail -- Gibraltar Segment

4.8 miles of hiking • 1000' elevation gain •

Started hike early at the south end of the Merrimac Ferry Wayside. Hiked entire first segment as well as the .9 mile connecting route to the end of the 2nd segment. Beautiful fall hike with lots of views of Lake Wisconsin and overlooking farm land. We used a bike shuttle by dropping of a bike at the end of the route to get back to our car at the beginning.

Ice Age Trail -- Sauk Point & Devils Lake Segments

15.2 miles of hiking • 2500' elevation gain •

We just received in the mail our giant Ice Age Trail map and decided to start from scratch segment hiking the entire trail. Decided to start big by knocking out 2 segments on a rainy morning. Parked at Parfreys Glen State Nature Area, hiked through the whole Sauke Point Segment, connected to the Devil's Lake Segment. Despite the rain, the temperature was in low 60's making the trip enjoyable. Beautiful time of the year to hike with all the fall leaves changing. We ended up hiking a little bit extra by missing a yellow blaze, we were distracted by all the rock climbers. Ended hike at the parking area on hwy DL. Used bike shuttle for the first time to bike back to car.
