Unfinished trail

1 miles of hiking • 0' elevation gain •

This trail off of Irish Settlement just past Hammond Hill Rd officially opens on May 31 but it's already available. We took the blue trail (me on foot, Gregg on unicycle). Lovely forest cover, some really dark sections and beautiful sunlight at 5pm. There's a pretty meandering creek area and a flood plain, and lots of little waterfalls.

We didn't get very far (probably half a mile up, then back) because the bugs were just out of control, plus Gregg forgot his wrist guards. We probably only went up about 100 feet before we turned around (the slope continued; the trail goes up into Hammond Hill State Forest). I plan to go back with my camera next time, but I need to figure out some bug repellent first.

Jim Schug Trail, Dryden Lake, Day 2

2.5 miles of hiking • 0' elevation gain •

I walked/Gregg unicycled the Jim Schug Trail that runs along the lake. The trail was originally an old rail line, and has since been converted into about 4.2 miles of trail for walking, biking, etc. Lovely scenery, lots of plants and wildlife (turtles, minks, geese, squirrels, fish, birds).
